Professional Biography
This Canadian was born and lived in the Halifax and Cape Breton areas of Nova Scotia. Steve attended St. Mary's University in Halifax for Post Secondary education. Though never one to play sports as a youth, he learned to play hockey and football the hard way 'as he went along' at SMU and did guarantee a position in Varsity football. Unfortunately, a serious injury and subsequent surgery ended the journey in any further sports endeavors.
Also. while at SMU, Steve was very active in various roles such as Head of Campus Security and positions in the Senate and in Residence life.
The next major stage of life carried him to Thunder Bay, Ontario at the head of Lake Superior, a beautiful substitute for the North Atlantic he grew up by. Love was right around the corner and thus Thunder Bay became home and is for his family. He held positions in management in a retail enviroment and later as General Manager of a large retail/wholesale operation. During this time he added another B.A. degree, this time in economics from Lakehead University.
Life being what it is, there have been many struggles along the way and that was no different in a career. Fortunately, the last 28 years has seen Steve as a Financial Advisor in the North West Ontario area. He has earned additional professional and academic designations to help in this career path. He is a Financial Planner and has both a Master's and Doctorate Degree in International Finance from the Canadian School of Management and Hawthorne University in Utah.
He has volunteered with children with special needs and is a past board member at Big Brothers and Big Sisters, George Jeffries Treatment Center and the United Way, amongst many others. He is an avid fitness person who has competed in swim, run and weightlifting events.
Over the last 10 years, he has had the fortune to play the guitar and out of that came the opportunity to write music. And again, life being what it is has turned the music into another career. The love and support of his family, his wife Noreen and children Matthew and Melissa have been the backbone of being what and where he is today.
